Having never played badminton before, I was a bit apprehensive about joining as I was worried I would make a fool of myself. But by the end of my first session I was asking myself why I had never played before. The more experienced players were so supportive and friendly and keen to teach/ coach the new players. I'm not one for exercising in the gym as it is a solitary activity. Through badminton, I've rediscovered my love for team games and my competitive streak finally has a fun outlet. As a 48 year old, working mum of five, Silver Smashers has a really positive physical and emotional impact on me. I fiercely guard my Friday and Sunday sessions as I see them as essential to my general health and wellbeing.
